Jive Talk w/ Manaaki
Tue • 05.21.24 • 7:00 pm - 1:00 am

Jive Talk

Hailed as “retro nerd-core supreme mother f*ckers”, Nashville based Jive Talk began making a name for themselves in early 2021 through their high energy live performances. They are known for their anthemic, synth-rock sound, and have been featured on Spotify's Fresh Finds, Apple New Alternative, Sirius XMU and more. 2024 looks to be an even bigger year, with new music on the way and upcoming festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Sweetwater 420 Fest, Hogs For The Cause, and more.

Manaaki

If it weren’t for bad Philly drivers, Manaaki would never have happened. Thanks to a face-off between a bike and a car, Ceallaigh Manaaki’s band Slomo Sapiens were out of a drummer for the foreseeable future. He decided to make lemonade out of lemons - teaming up with Sixteen Jackies’ drummer Ian Staley and Grave Bathers’ bass player Davis M. Shubs, they recorded their first EP; “Effigy” a collection of more personal tunes he’d been holding on to. The trio enjoyed that experience so much they decided to keep it rolling. To pay homage to his New Zealand roots and with the intention of honesty, the band chose Ceallaigh’s middle name ‘Manaaki’ which in Maori means to cherish, nurture and sustain. That is how they feel about the essence of blues music - Manaaki is raw, heavy, live, honest and vulnerable. There is no doubt you can hear that in the first EP and in the bands’ upcoming second release “High Alert
