The Jazzyfatnastees began as a LA based quartet in 1992.
By the time they released their debut album "the once & the future" (1999), the Jazzyfatnastees consisted of the two remaining members Tracey Moore & Mercedes Martinez 1999 was also the year Black Lily was born. "A women in music series" born out of a frustration as female singers being marginalized as "hook vocalists" in a generation of male dominated hip hop jam sessions.
Created by The Jazzyfatnastees to develop their performance skills, promote themselves and share these opportunities with other female artists, particularly those outside of the boundaries of "commercial music". Acknowledged in the press as the home base of the Neo-Soul movement, Black Lily became a weekly series in Philadelphia from 2000 to 2005
"We were the ones in the rooms.... the ones who felt frustrated. We had the resources to do something about it, and we did. It just so happened that there were like minded writers musicians artists - all at the beginning of their careers - to contribute their talents to the magic that was Black Lily" - tracey
Tracey will be presenting new material as well as some memorable moments from Black Lily.
